As MLB Update Dodgers have encountered another injury setback in their stellar 2025 campaign, as star outfielder Teoscar Hernández Exits Monday’s matchup against the Miami Marlins due to tightness in his left hamstring.
Hernández, who currently leads Major League Baseball in RBIs, was taken out of the game during the bottom of the fourth inning. Chris Taylor came in as a defensive substitution, with Andy Pages shifting from center to right field. At the time of the switch, the Dodgers were holding a 3-0 lead.
Before his early departure, Hernández had gone 2-for-2 at the plate, including his 34th RBI of the season—further cementing his status as one of the league’s most productive hitters. Entering the game, he boasted a .305 batting average with nine home runs and a .586 slugging percentage across 33 games.
The first run of the night came courtesy of a Hernández double in the opening frame, driving in a score off Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara. The Dodgers later extended their advantage with home runs by former NL MVPs Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani, eventually building a 5-0 cushion.
Originally signed as a free agent in January 2024, Hernández quickly exceeded expectations in Los Angeles. In his debut season, he earned All-Star honors, won the Home Run Derby, and took home a Silver Slugger Award. He played a pivotal role in helping the Dodgers clinch the World Series title over the New York Yankees, recording 33 home runs and 99 RBIs during the regular season.
The Dodgers rewarded his performance with a three-year, $66 million deal in January 2025—complete with a $23 million signing bonus and potential incentives extending through 2029.
With a career slash line of .264/.321/.492, Hernández has tallied 201 home runs and 606 RBIs over 998 games spanning stints with the Astros, Blue Jays, Mariners, and Dodgers.
Despite boasting a league-best 23-11 record and mounting a strong title defense, Los Angeles has already been hampered by injuries to key starters Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell. Hernández’s hamstring issue adds to that growing list, just two days after utility man Tommy Edman was sidelined with ankle soreness and placed on the 10-day injured list.
As fans await updates on Hernández’s status after Teoscar Hernández exits game, the Dodgers will need their depth and star power to continue carrying the momentum.
