Gallen Shines with Career High 13 Strikeouts

Zac Gallen put on an impressive performance on Wednesday night, matching his career high 13 strikeouts and leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees. Gallen dominated the Yankees’ lineup, allowing just three hits and no walks over 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball.

Despite the Yankees’ powerful hitters, they couldn’t find a way to break through against Gallen. Their only real threat came in the second inning, when Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled and Austin Wells doubled to put runners on second and third. However, Gallen struck out the next two batters to escape the jam unscathed.

The Diamondbacks’ offense supported their ace with an early lead, including a two-run homer by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the first inning and a two-run rally in the second against Yankees starter Carlos Rodón.

Although the Yankees mounted a late charge in the ninth inning, A.J. Puk came in to close the game and secure the win for Gallen.
